In some cases, bells and their fittings are being sponsored separately. Sponsors have come forward for clappers of three of the bells, all given in memory of family members.
We are delighted to announce that the Parish has pledged sufficient to pay for the 10th bell and all its fittings. It is to be called the Magdalene Bell. Only the 9th and tenor bells are yet to be sponsored.
The incoming President of Taunton Rotary, who is herself a ringer, has chosen the Bells of St Mary's as one of the projects Rotary are supporting this year. We are absolutely delighted and posed for a PR shot with Rachel outside nearby Staplegrove church to publicise Rotary's 50/50 charity bike ride.
Mike Hansford used his decibel recorder once more to take noises level readings in the vicinity of the church during what is probably the last peal on the bells (see pictures at the top). They were used to check against readings taken during February and show good consistency.
